Age of Conan is free 2 play now!

Once again I want to inform you about a game which can now be enjoyed freely.

But wait, if you want to play it you have to live with some restrictions.

It seems that you have to buy a premium account to enjoy the whole game (~15 € for one month, ~36 € for 3, ~63 € for a half year and round about 99 € for one year).
Some features like the bank-slots can be bought as a free member as well in the now introduced item-shop.

I am of the opinion that it isn't enjoyable at all with all those limitiations. Three years ago, when the game was released, I have played it with friends for some days. However, it has not amused me that time, and probably won't nowadays.
Anyway, it is on you to decide whether you play this game now for free.
Testing it will probably amuse you, eventhough the fun lasts just for a few days.

Team Fortress 2 - free at Steam

Hello my fellow followers, this will be a short post today. It has come to my attention that there is another great game available for free on Steam.

This time, it isn't just a game of which you probably have never heard of.

Team Fortress 2 is a team-based ego and tactic shooter. You can pick from 9 classes, e.g. Scout, Sniper and Medic. As far as I know, there are different kinds of unlockable weapons as well.
I am going to download this game now, have never played it.
If you like we could play some games together.

Gaming on a Smartphone

Gaming has not necessarily to do something with PCs and Consoles only. Today I want to talk about gaming on smartphones. A half year ago, I was one of those persons, that didn't understand at all why you HAVE to have a smartphone.

Do you want to know how my old mobile phone looked like?

Here you go:

I don't know why but somehow and suddenly, I have felt an overwhelming urge to buy me a smartphone. Therefore I have, like I always do when considering to buy someting new, researched the internet for "ages". Finally I have found the phone that satisfies my needs at best.

This was the result and I am quite satisfied with it (Orange San Francisco).

Some specs:

Cpu: 600 mhz
Display: TFT, 480 x 800 pixels, 65'000 colors, 3.5 inch
Camera: 3.2 megapixel
Size: 116 x 56.5 x 11.8 mm
Weight: 130g
OS: Android 2.1 (custom roms with 2.3 work as well)
Standby: 9 days
Talk time: 4 hrs

This are impressive specs, if you consider that it only costs 99 pounds.

For now, I have only played a few games on my phone, e.g. Angry Birds & Fruit Ninja.

It is quite amazing what phones can do nowadays. The last game I have played was some ugly 2d racing game on my nokia. Do you have some games that I should definitely check out on my smartphone?
Tell me in the comments please.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Hello my fellow followers. This time I will write a quite unnormal post. As of yet I have tried to inform you about some nice games. But this time, I'd like to have your advice.

The thing is, I was never a fan of Star Wars but heard some nice arguments which may encourage me to play it. In the past I have played World of Warcraft (screw me). While playing this game, it was no problem for me that I didn't know anything about the Warcraft history. Does it matter for the Star Wars game?

Just another one writing about the goty - Diablo 3

Serioulsly, you don't know how much I am waiting for this game being released.

For my fellow german followers, if you would like to preorder the game, now is the time for it. Yesterday I have received an email from amazon.de in which they have told me that I can preorder this game right now. Of course I have not done that, just because amazon.co.uk is offering it for preorder for quite a long time and I want to have the english-language version (english version preorder). If you don't mind, preorder it here: Diablo 3 preorder(german).
Don't be frightened because of the price (49.99 €). When preordering at amazon, you have the Pre-Order Price Guarantee which means that you will get it for the lowest price ever offered on amazon. I'd expect that it goes down to 35-45 €.

Quite old news (25.05.2011) but mentionable. Blizzard has given some new facts about the rune system, which in my view looks fascinating.

Here a little excerpt:

There are more than twenty skills per class, and a player can choose to access up to seven of those skills at any one time. Skills primarily allow characters to perform special attacks and cast spells, but they can also activate defensive abilities, summon minions, set traps, or allow the player to navigate the battlefield through quick travel and escape mechanics. While these skills always present players with plenty of tactical options for defending Sanctuary against the coming demonic invasion, runestones allow you to customize skills by changing the way they look and how they function.

There are five runestone types: Crimson, Indigo, Obsidian, Golden, and Alabaster. Each runestone affects skills differently. For example, adding a Crimson Runestone to a skill may enhance its damage, while adding an Alabaster Runestone might add a stun effect.

In addition to their color, runestones also come in different ranks of power; the higher a runestone’s rank, the more dramatic its effect on the skill. Experiment, and discover which skill and runestone combination best suits your personal playstyle.
To see examples of how different runestones enhance your various skills in Diablo III, check out the skill videos below.

You should definitely check the site. There are some videos where you can see some different runes in action.

For example:

a whirlwinding BARBARIAN.

To end this quickly, there are as of yet no real news regarding Diablo 3 - but I will definitely mention them in my blog as soon as I am aware of them. I'll keep you updated.

I would like to know if you have already chosen a class to play at release. I don't.

Anno 2070 - another marvelous game?

How long is it ago since the actual Anno 1404 has been published? if I remember correctly, it was nearly 2 years ago, on the 25th of June in 2009, at least here in Germany.
I have played this game so often. Despite that, I have never really cared for the missions - just done the endless game - let me exxagerate - over 1000 times.
But some time, this game is getting old. And what do I need when one of my favourite titles is getting old?

Another marvelous Anno!

Unfortunately it is not getting released until the 4th quarter of 2011. Still some time to overcome. Maybe I try some of the older Anno games during this time. I like all of them. Maybe you could recommend me some other game? After passing my A level, I have a lot of time until October when my study begins.

Anyway, what do you expect from the new Anno? Or maybe you are some of these guys that don't want Anno to take place in the future? I've to admit that I like this innovation of Ubisoft.
Furthermore I would love to nuke some of my opponents with nuclear sub-marines. Will there still be such weapons in 2070?

Did you know that the sum of the digits of all Anno games always is 9?
Another nice thing to know is that except the new one, all of the other games have a time interval of 99 years.
E.g.: Anno 1701 minus Anno 1602 equals 99.

However, I am really looking forward to this one. Anno games are one of these titles, where I have no doubt that they are marvelous.

It is time for Duke, isn't it?

In the year 1997, Duke Nukem was announced. Now, "only" 14 years later, the waiting will end soon, will it?

On June 16, this Friday, it will most likely being published. I have waited for so long, but will the waiting worth it? I don't know. Haven't played the demo yet because I didn't have preordered it. Does someone of you have an opinion, maybe already played the demo version? comment!

Despite I haven't played it yet, I do not really have so much hopes for it being a marvelous game. Of course, you will have fun, but there are plenty of games with which you have. People have waited for too long and their expectations are really high. Will the publisher fulfill these hopes?

Tell me your opinion!

Dungeon Siege III Demo

Well, I have waited long for this game, am I satisfied? We will see later...
Firstly, it took some time to download the demo via steam because of their low server capacities during big releases like this one. After trying for 10 minutes, I was finally able to load the demo with maximum speed. Installing lasted another 5 minutes and right after that I started the long-awaited Dungeon Siege 3 Demo.

When clicking on "new game" I had to choose whether I would like to play the female character "Anjali" or the male one "Lucas Montbarron".
Like I always do in games, I have chosen the woman.

Before I was able to play, I had to choose the difficulty. There are three at choice, "casual", "normal" and "hardcore".
Because of the fact that I am not a sissy, but to weak to conquer the beasts from hell, I have made a decission and selected "normal".
Like every game, Dungeon Siege III starts with an intro, which I tried to cancel immediately and guess what?
OH LORD YES
I was able to skip it. I do understand that the developers doing a great job in creating intros. Of course I did not skip the videos because of their bad quality, it's just that I do not care for them and just want to play.

May I introduce?
This is Anjali, performing her special move "Spinning Kick".

Every character in Dungeon Siege III has two stances. Anjali e.g., is able to melee-fight with staffs
and in her second stance, she is the burning woman from hell.

Here you can see Anjali incinerating some guys that really deserve it.

After killing the first enemies I can say that there is something missing. If you are hitting an enemy you do not feel or rather hear that you are actually hitting him. There is no feedback, you just punch and that is it. I would like to hear some "swoosh" or "slit". I cannot say that this fact makes it a bad game, but I do miss it.

Square Enix has promised that there is a huge amount of items which will drop. By now I can say that they are right but I am quite disappointed regarding the loot-system. Until now I have not found any button to "show all loot" on the ground. Comment please if I am wrong.
The only chance to see the loot is to stand in a specific angle in front of the item. If you move a little bit away, you will just see that there is one, but don't know what is exactly.

Anoher fact I really do not like is that you have to be, what you have chosen when starting your adventure. I would like to have the opportunity to decide to what class I develope during gameplay, just as it was in DS I. If you wanted to be a little dwarf that shoots fireballs, you could do so. But in DS III you HAVE to be Anjali, with her two specialisations, all the time. That is somewhat disappointing.

It took me about 45 minutes to play through the demo and I am really happy that I was given the opportunity to play the Dungeon Siege III Demo. Because now I know, that I do not have/want to buy the retail version of it and save my money for other things. But I still do have a problem, how can I fill the gap between now and the Diablo III release? Suggestions in the comments please.
